Uponor shuts down manufacturing unit in Hungary
Continuing its restructuring, Finland's plastic pipe giant Uponor (www.uponor.com), Vantaa, has decided to close its municipal sewer, gas and water pipe manufacturing unit in Szekszard, Hungary, and the related sales office in Budapest, both part of the business unit "Infracstructure and Environment Systems". The Hungarian unit, employing a staff of 45 people, has annual sales of less than EUR 10m and, according to Uponor, has been unprofitable. Its tasks in eastern Central Europe will now be coordinated by Uponor's sales office in Prague, Czech. The closure does not affect Uponor's Housing Solutions business in Hungary, located in Budapest, says the company.
