Central Europe headed for PE surplus?
The reform countries of central Europe could face significant overcapacities in PE production by 2008, predicts Czech petrochemical group Chemopetrol (www.chemopetrol.cz), Litvinov. About a third of the expected 1m t/y annual production will not be processed in the region and thus will be exported, Chemopetrol director Pavel Pesta told an international chemicals congress in Prague. The international automobile industry, which currently is investing in new plants in central Europe, will be the main customer for plastics, said Pesta.
