Heywood Williams posts GBP 72m loss in 2003
Struggling UK door and window profile manufacturer Heywood Williams (www.heywoodwilliams.com), Huddersfield, reported a pretax loss for 2003 after exceptional items and goodwill charges of GBP 71.8m. No final dividend will be paid. Executive chairman Roger Boyes blamed the company's management since 2001 for having ambition that was not matched by the ability to deliver on promises made. Robert Barr, a previous managing director in Europe for medical moulder Bespak, is the new group chief executive. He succeeds Ian Stuart, who quit last summer.
