Futura Polyesters with new PET-PTN alloy for beer bottles
Futura Polyesters (www.futurapolyesters.com), Chennai / India, has developed a new alloy of PET and polytrimethylene napthalate (PTN) for monolayer bottles, which is claimed to have improved barrier properties compared with pure PET. The company says the material can provide a CO² barrier of 18 times and an O² barrier of 9 times more than PET. More details on the resin, said to be suitable for stretch blow molding, will be presented at the Nova-Pack Asia conference on PET food and beverage containers, to be held in Guanghzou / China from 20-21 June.
