New components plant for Johnson Controls in Macedonia?
Macedonia is the "most promising candidate" for a new production plant for electronic components to be built by Johnson Controls (JCI, European HQ: Burscheid / Germany; www.johnsoncontrols.com), the country's prime minister, Vlado Buckovski, said after a meeting in Detroit with John Barth, executive president of the US manufacturer of car interiors. Other possible locations are Poland, Romania and Slovenia, although Buckovski claims the latter two are "not so attractive." The facility would employ 600 people. A production unit for seats could follow later. JCI is set to make a decision on 15 December, according to reports.
