Indian carbon black producer expands capacity
The largest Indian carbon black producer Phillips Carbon Black (Kolkata, West Bengal; www.pcblltd.com) plans to expand capacity at two of its four sites in the country. Production at two sites in Gujarat state, in Palej (near Vadodara) and Mundra (about 400 km west of the big city), is to be boosted by around 80,000 t/y. The work is expected to be completed by the end of 2019, bringing the total capacity to about 550,000 t/y.
At the same time, parent company RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group (www.rp-sg.in) is planning an additional plant, but its location is not yet established. The plant is to have a capacity of 120,000 t/y.
