Expansion in Denmark / New cleanroom for moulded medical devices
Phillips-Medisize (Hudson, Wisconsin / USA; www.phillipsmedisize.com), a manufacturer of injection-moulded drug delivery, mobile and portable medical devices as well as primary pharmaceutical packaging and diagnostic products, is expanding its current global innovation and development site at Struer / Denmark in central Jutland.

The enlarged 8,400 m² facility, designed to support late-stage development of medium- and high-volume products and processes, is scheduled to open in this year’s second quarter with about 500 m² of additional floor space for a cleanroom assembly and moulding unit that can be used for clinical trials, among other purposes.

In November 2019, the company acquired by US electronic devices manufacturer Molex (Lisle, Illinois; www.molex.com) in 2016 (see Plasteurope.com of 19.08.2016), itself part of Koch Industries (Wichita, Kansas / USA; www.kochindustries.com), opened a new innovation and development centre in Virum / Denmark near Copenhagen to support long-term growth plans for its wearable devices and connected health technologies. The site in Virum employs 30 people, with the option to expand the workforce to 100 employees. Phillips-Medisize said the location is an easily accessible hub for supplying the European market.
