PHILIPS
Sale of High Tech Plastics Optics in China
Philips (Eindhoven / The Netherlands; www.philips.com) has sold its subsidiary High Tech Plastics Optics (HTP Optics, Suzhou / China) to Triumph Pan-Pacific Capital (Hong Kong / China) for an undisclosed sum. The sale continues Philips’ divestment strategy that began in 2005 with the disposal of its HTP Automotive operation in Lommel / Belgium – see Plasteurope.com of 10.02.2005. This was followed in 2006 by the sale of HTP’s Dutch toolmaking business. HTP Optics has 300 employees and manufactures high-precision lenses for mobile phones, CD/DVD equipment and scanners. Philips says it wants to concentrate increasingly on the fields of health care, light and lifestyle.
