UK container group boosts storage and moulding capacity / Russian, Czech and Swedish plants benefit from undisclosed investment
Plastic container manufacturer Petainer (London / UK; www.petainer.com) is expanding its operations in Europe and Russia. This includes new warehousing and moulding capacity.
The group, which is owned by investment group New Wave Partners, is building a new warehouse at its Aš plant in the Czech Republic to provide increased on-site storage capacity, and meet its current and future growth plans. The introduction of the new warehouse will allow for 1,740 fewer annual truck deliveries. The company told Plasteurope.com the number of truck journeys at the Czech plant in 2017 was 8,000. The development follows a similar initiative at Petainer’s Lidköping plant in Sweden, where a new warehouse was built next to the factory to provide more storage capacity, reducing logistics and the firm’s carbon footprint.
And at its Russian plant in Klin, Petainer has invested an undisclosed amount in injection-moulding capability to localise supply of preforms for its “petainerKeg”. The Russian plant will also benefit from additional warehouse capacity. The company declined to provide production capacity figures for any of the plants in Russia, the Czech Republic or Sweden.
Hugh Ross, Petainer’s chief executive said the investment at its sites in the three countries was undertaken with a view “to not only driving growth but also to significantly reduce the carbon footprint associated both with our supply chain and that of our customers.”
