OERLEMANS PACKAGING
Purchase of film specialist Flexpak / Dutch flexible packaging producer on growth path
In a move aimed at extending its production portfolio, Oerlemans Packaging (Opack, Genderen / The Netherlands; www.oerlemanspackaging.nl) in early May acquired Flexpak (Geldermalsen / The Netherlands; www.flexpak.nl). Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. Based in Geldermalsen, about 35 km southeast of Utrecht, Flexpak produces laminated film, as well as high-quality printed OPP, CPP and BOPP film and sheet, catering mostly to customers from the food industries in both The Netherlands and abroad. Following the purchase, Flexpak owner and managing director Thies Oosterhuis will retire.
Opack said the purchase will enable it to offer its customers an even wider range of products and services, adding that it fits into its growth strategy. The group, which operates seven production sites, provides a wide array of flexible packaging solutions for a number of different end markets. It is comprised of Oerlemans Plastics, Plasthill, Perfon, Oosterwolde Plastic Industrie, Fardem Packaging and now also Flexpak. The company reportedly last posted sales of about EUR 155m – a figure that is expected to rise to more than EUR 170m in the wake of the Flexpak purchase.
