NUOVA PANSAC
Administrator of ailing Italian film producer receives offers for four plants / Portogruaro facility to be permanently shuttered
After three years under external administration, it now looks as though the troubles plaguing Italian film manufacturer Nuova Pansac (Mantova; www.nuovapansac.com) could come to an end – for previous coverage, see Plasteurope.com of 05.10.2010. Mark Cappalletto recently told the Italian Ministry of Economic Development he had received bids for four of the company’s plants, located in Mira, Marghera, Zingonia and Ravenna. According to local media reports, all four facilities are still operating. Cappalletto said no offer had been received for the plant in Portogruaro, which has been mothballed. If the piecemeal sale proceeds as planned, 230 of the sites’ 650 jobs could be saved, reports indicate.
Multilayered extruded PE film manufacturer Poligof (Pieve Fissiraga / Italy; www.poligof.it) made an offer for the plant in Mira, which foresees a three-year plan involving EUR 6m in investments and the creation of 175 jobs.
The site in Zingonia is to be taken over by flexible PE packaging producer Blu Plast (Pagani / Italy; www.bluplastsrl.it), news reports allege. As part of the plan for the factory, the Pagani-based company foresees a EUR 3m investment, with about 25 jobs to be added over the next three years.
The 2-year business plan for the Marghera plant, for which PE bag and film producer Selene (Pontetetto / Italy; www.selene-spa.it) has made an offer, involves a EUR 600,000 investment, with twelve positions due to be added in the next two years.
In Ravenna, by contrast, the plant’s employees have set up a cooperative to manage the facility, ensuring the future of the site’s 24 workers.
