Carrington EPS line shut down
As part of global realignment of the styrene business, the Canadian company Nova Chemicals (Europe: Manchester/ GB; www.nova.ca) will be shutting down its EPS line in Carrington/UK at the end of October and stopping production there for an unspecified period. With its 75,000 t/y, the production at this facility contributes roughly 24% to Nova´s overall EPS capacity in Europe. After two years of continuously slackening demand figures, the company now confirms its ability to meet market requirements of EPS with the help of its three other plants at Ribecourt, Berre (both France) and Breda/The Netherlands. The company emphasised that this measure will not be affecting the annual production of 185,000 t/y of PS at Carrington.
