Nolato’s (Toreskov / Sweden; www.nolato.com) Medical Solutions business is consolidating operations at its UK subsidiary Nolato Jaycare. The measure will result in the closure of its manufacturing facility in Portsmouth / UK by December 2020, when the tenancy agreement expires. Many of the Portsmouth activities will then be relocated to Nolato Jaycare’s second plant in Newcastle / UK. The closure is expected to cost around SEK 35m (EUR 3.3m) and affect 115 employees. The Portsmouth site generates annual sales of around EUR 13.3m.
“Our Portsmouth plant has mainly produced standardised pharmaceutical packaging with relatively low added value,” said Nolato CEO Christer Wahlquist. “We have a modern, well-invested facility in Newcastle focusing on more complex operations that has gradually increased production capacity, including through new cleanrooms.” Nolato acquired Jaycare in April 2012 – see Plasteurope.com of 16.04.2012.
