Czech companies buy injection moulding plant in Saint-Savine
Plastics converter Plastika (Kromeriz / Czech Republic; www.plastika.cz) and precision metal turned parts specialist Preciturn (Slany / Czech Republic; www.preciturn.org) have jointly acquired Nief Plastic Saint-Savine (Saint-Savine / France). The plant was transferred, in a poor financial condition, in 2001 to Nief Plastic Group (Genas / France; www.nief-plastic.com) from Tier 1 supplier Valeo (Paris / France; www.valeo.com) for EUR 1.
The subsequent restructuring and reorganisation of the company was, however, unsuccessful and the site has been in receivership since December 2005. It is reported that the new owners aim to save around 125 of the 250 jobs that remain from the original 335, and that they will be employed in the new company, Plastika Saint-Savine.
Plastika is a traditional injection moulding company (development, mould construction, production, and assembly) founded in 1956 for the manufacture of technical components in the south-east of the Czech Republic, between Brno and Zlin near the borders with Slovakia and Austria. It has more than 350 employees, and in 2005 posted sales of CZK 695m (EUR 25m). The company’s principal customers are Tier 1 operators in the automotive industry including Siemens VDO, Magna, Faurecia and Automotive Lighting as well as the electrical and electronic equipment (E&E) segment with, for example, Fujitsu Siemens and Schneider.
Its partner Preciturn is based near Prague and has a facility in Ukraine. Last year it acquired parts producer Dall Deco (Marignier / France; www.dalldeco.com).
Injection moulding company Nief Plastic operates six plants in France and one each in Morocco, Tunisia, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. With a workforce of 1,140, the group had sales in 2006 of EUR 114m. Half of the company’s output goes into the automotive industry and a further 28% into E&E.
