Milliken Chemical (Spartanburg, South Carolina / USA; www.millikenchemical.com) has introduced the latest generation of “Millad NX8000” clarifying agents for PP. In addition to providing superior optics, the company says the new series enables processors to make substantial improvements in their economics through reduced processing temperatures and shorter cycles. Trials carried out by Milliken have shown that the additive can regularly yield cycle time reductions of up to 15%, while the ability to process at lower temperatures can often cut energy consumption by 15 to 20% – and in some cases by over 30%.
An injection moulder who would normally process PP at 240 °C to 260 °C can drop machine settings down to around 200 °C if they are using a compound containing the new agent, Milliken said.
