The South Entrance to Messe Düsseldorf (www.messe-duesseldorf.de) is to undergo a complete revamp. Next to the "Stadthalle" (CCD Süd) a new, fully glazed entrance building will be built, incorporating conference rooms and a generously-dimensioned canopy. The current halls 1 and 2 are being knocked down in the process and will be replaced by a new hall 1, which will be roughly the same size as the recently constructed halls 8a and 8b. This new hall will not only serve as an exhibition hall but will also be available as an event venue seating up to 10,000 people.
The conversion work, for which EUR 140m has been earmarked, will be starting immediately after "interpack 2017" (4-10 May 2017; www.interpack.de), with completion scheduled for summer 2019. The new complex will thus be hosting its first big trade fair on the occasion of "K 2019" (16-23 October 2019; www.k-online.de).
