Danish plastics processor Letbæk Plast (Tistrup; www.letbaek.dk) has set the course for growth. With its acquisition of Plast-Profilen (Lønborg / Denmark) on 1 February 2019, the company will be strengthening its production of small technical plastic profiles, Michael Bayer Thomsen told local media. The seven employees of Plast-Profilen are part of the takeover, and its location will be transferred to Letbæk’s headquarters in Tistrup, about 25 km away. The workforce in Tistrup will grow to 47 employees.

In addition, Letbæk Plast has founded a subsidiary, Letbek spzoo, in Poznan / Poland. This branch will start producing plastic shells for designer chairs in April. According to Bayer Thomsen, Poland is Europe’s centre for design furniture, which is the main reason for setting up the new company there. The subsidiary will eventually have a staff of 50.

In Tistrup, Letbæk Plast manufactures window profiles, cable protection systems and injection-moulded components for customers in the agricultural, construction and industrial sectors. According to the company, more than 60% of the materials it uses are recyclates. In 2018, Letbæk’s turnover rose 11% to DKK 70m (EUR 9.4m), and it is also expecting double-digit growth in 2019.
