Expansion of Mexican site to create more packing, warehousing capacity
Danish toy maker Lego (Billund; www.lego.com) said it is expanding its factory in Monterrey, Mexico, in a USD 205 mn (EUR 96.3 mn) investment that would set up the company for long-term growth in the Americas.

The expansion is to include a new packing building, a warehouse extension, and other miscellaneous facilities, adding a total of 59,000 m² of operational space to bring the total site area to 334,000 m², Lego said. The factory now employs more than 5,000 people and some 900 are expected to be added over the course of the expansion. The production lines will also be increased to a total of 68 from the current 51.

The factory, the largest Lego manufacturing facility in the world, is one of three of the company’s factories which performs all aspects of the manufacturing and packaging of its products, including moulding Lego elements, element processing, and decoration and packing Lego boxes.
