Van Baarle takes charge of Americas operations
German speciality chemicals group Lanxess (Cologne; www.lanxess.de) has announced that Frederique van Baarle has begun managing the company’s Americas business, with work to be carried out from the division’s headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Lanxess had explained the move last autumn when van Baarle was appointed to the Cologne group’s management board as labour director. She had previously helmed the High Performance Materials division since June 2020 until it was incorporated into the Envalior joint venture with the private equity company Advent.

Van Baarle began her career in the chemical industry in 2000, initially working at Royal DSM, according to Lanxess. She joined her current employer in 2011, where she held various management positions in sales and marketing in the then High Performance Elastomers and High Performance Materials divisions before moving on to central purchasing and logistics. The Dutchwoman studied business administration in her homeland, where she also received an MBA, and participated in executive training at French business school Insead, Lanxess said.
