Lanxess (Cologne / Germany; www.lanxess.com) recently launched “Adiprene LFM C525”, a polycaprolactone-based prepolymer with a level of free MDI at less than 1%. It offers excellent performance as well as high tear strength, outstanding fatigue and abrasion resistance, says the German speciality chemicals company.

When cured with “Vibracure 2101”, the material delivers Shore A hardness of 96. It is particularly suitable for industrial wheel applications. Lower hardness elastomers are also possible with variants of Vibracure 2101. Lanxess notes that Adiprene LFM C525 prepolymer is also easy to process, requiring on average 16-24 hours at 115-120°C post-cure time, and it is stable at room temperature for around 36 months.

Adiprene was a product line of US chemicals producer Chemtura, which Lanxess acquired in 2017 – see Plasteurope.com of 25.04.2017.
