KUNSTSTOFF-PACKUNGEN AG
Injection blow moulding division acquired from Femit / Stronger in pharma packaging
Only two years after startup of the business, Femit AG of Uster, Switzerland, has sold its injection blow moulding division to Kunststoff-Packungen AG (KG, Weiherstr. 41, CH-8289 Kreuzlingen) for an undisclosed sum. According to Femit's major shareholder Walter Knechtli, the company has quit production of moulded parts for the pharma and cosmetics industries to concentrate on core business of producing PET bottles and preforms for foods and beverages.
The deal, effective 1 July, 1996, has strengthened KG's position in the pharma sector, said Gerald Girrbach, co-owner and member of the company's managing board. Acquiring Femit's two injection blow moulding machines and its customer base will double capacities in this sector. While no details are available on sales of the Femit division, figures show it produced 25m injection blow moulded articles in 1995. KG also has gained a foothold in the foods sector with the acquisiton of Edy Sheller AG of Hegnau, Switzerland, manufacturer of injection moulded plastic food packaging.
