Kimberly-Clark UK (West Malling; www.kimberly-clark.com) has announced it is now using 30% recycled plastics in the packaging for its “Andrex Classic Clean” toilet paper. The company aims to increase this to 50% across the entire product range by 2023.
The US-headquartered household products group said the increased use of recyclate in the Classic Clean packaging would remove 481 t of virgin plastics over the next 12 months, equal to more than 48m 500 ml PET bottles. Ori Ben Shai, vice president and managing director of Kimberly-Clark UK, said the roll-out of the new packaging formed part of the group’s wider ambition to be more environmentally friendly. “Beyond this, we aim to have at least 50% recycled plastic content in our packaging by 2023, and we will continue to look for more sustainable alternatives that reduce our environmental footprint,” he added.
