BOPP in Italy: Large order from Vibac
Kampf GmbH & Co. Maschinenfabrik (D-51674 Wiehl), which belongs to Jagenberg AG (PO Box 104261, D-40033 Düsseldorf) and manufactures cutting and winding machines for plastic film, aluminium foil and tapes, recently received an order from Vibac SpA (Strada Ticineto, Salita S. Salvatore, I-15040 Ticineto, AL) for machines worth several million DEM. Vibac is investing in a new production line for biaxially stretched propylene in a working width of 7.60m at its BOPP location in L´Aquila. Kampf is supplying the take-up and two double reverse wind-ups for this line. The order also provides for the modernisation of existing primary cutting machines. All the machines will become operational in 1999.With the receipt of these new orders, Kampf is following on from the successful deployment of its machines at some of Vibac´s associated companies. At Vifas (Grumento, Italy) a take-up and a nonstop reverse wind-up were installed, achieving a “record line speed” of 500 m/min under real production conditions. An identical facility designed for the same line speed was recently started up at Vifan (Morristown, TN, USA).As reported (see PIE No. 16, 1998), Vibac is one of the leading producers of BOPP films. Its European capacity is 80,000 t/y.
