While its subsidiary Treofan (Neunkirchen, Germany) struggles with insolvency, Jindal Films (New Delhi, India; www.jindalfilms.com) is planning to install an additional extrusion line at its plant in Brindisi, Italy.

According to the company, the equipment, which is to have an output width of 10 m, is being supplied by Brückner Maschinenbau (Siegsdorf, Germany; www.brueckner.com). The line is expected to go into operation in the second half of 2026. It is expected to have a capacity of around 70,000 t/y to 80,000 t/y and is designed for processing both polyethylene and polypropylene. Jindal added that the Brindisi site is set to play a key role in the company’s global production network.

Treofan – home to the last remaining plant in Neunkirchen producing biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) films – filed for debtor-in-possession insolvency proceedings in September 2025, after the Indian parent company said it was no longer willing to absorb what it described as “significant” losses.
