Speciality chemicals distributor strengthens presence in Italy

Dutch speciality chemicals distributor IMCD (Rotterdam; www.imcdgroup.com) said it has acquired Italian chemicals supplier Tillmanns (Milan; www.tillmanns.it) for an undisclosed sum. With a strong domestic market presence, Tillmanns operates across several key sectors including compounding, coatings, construction, food and nutrition, and water treatment.

For the plastics and rubber industries, the company supplies pigments and additives used in the production of plastic and masterbatch compounds, as well as compounds based on both virgin and recycled polymers. In addition to a logistics centre, Tillmanns also operates its own in-house R&D laboratory in Milan. The company reported EUR 143 mn in sales in 2024 and employs around 80 people.

The deal is subject to customary regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025. The acquisition marks an important step in further strengthening IMCD’s presence in Italy, said Marcus Jordan, CEO of IMCD.
The Dutch distributor employed around 5,100 people in 2024 and reported revenues of EUR 4.73 bn. The group completed twelve acquisitions over the course of the year.
