US technology group Honeywell (Charlotte, North Carolina; www.honeywell.com) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Environ Adapt for Recycling Industries, a unit of Intro Sustainable Resources Holding (Cairo, Egypt; www.intro-sr.com) to explore the development of Egypt’s first chemical recycling facility for plastics waste.

Under the MoU, subsidiary Honeywell UOP (Des Plaines, Illinois; https://uop.honeywell.com) will work with Environ to deploy its latest UpCycle Process Technology, which has the potential to recycle up to 90% of waste plastics and convert them into polymer feedstock.

The MoU enables Environ to conduct a project feasibility study to explore trends, feedstock availability and potential markets, technical studies for the operation of the plant and facility, as well as overall project schedule, financial modeling, and analysis. The partners have not provided any information on the planned reclaim capacity.

In parallel, Honeywell UOP will provide Environ with technical and commercial information and analysis along with broader project support.
