HEXCEL
Acquisition of Structil complete / Aerospace and industrial composites production in France
Composites manufacturer Hexcel (Stamford, Connecticut / USA; www.hexcel.com) has closed the acquisition of Structil, a French producer of high-performance composites to the aerospace, defence and industrial markets. The companies entered into exclusive negotiations in June this year – see Plasteurope.com of 06.06.2017.
Structil was a joint venture between Safran Ceramics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Safran (Vert-le-Petit / France; www.safran-group.com), and Mitsubishi Chemical (Tokyo / Japan; www.m-chemical.co.jp/en). With approximately 70 employees at its site in Vert-le-Petit, Structil produces prepregs, structural adhesives and pultruded profiles used in engine nacelles, aerospace interiors and military jets, among other things. Its sales amounted to around USD 21m in 2016.
Hexcel’s chairman, CEO and president, Nick Stanage, said the addition of Structil would strengthen its development capability and technologies for next-generation aerospace and industrial applications.
