Hager (Blieskastel / Germany; www.hagergroup.com), a manufacturer of electrical installation systems and components, is to invest EUR 28m at its plant in Obernai / France near Strasbourg. A new relay production line is currently being built there and due to start up at the end of 2021. Construction began in summer 2019. The new building will be an extension of the existing relay production hall and accommodate both the new line and office space on an area of 1,400 m².

“Our residential and commercial customers in Europe value our products and in particular are in constant need of RCCBs (residual-current circuit breakers). As relays are a key component, we intend to double our production capacities and are building a new production line in Obernai,” said Jacky Metzger, vice president Electromechanical Factories.

Hager says the new line is geared towards Industry 4.0. With the acquisition of new robots, it will benefit from the latest innovations in equipment connectivity, information processing and the management of data and industrial processes. Thanks to these technologies, the relays produced on the new line will be immune to environments containing dust and chlorine, for example.
