Before the end of this year, Gurit Holding (Wattwil / Switzerland; www.gurit.com) will transfer its ultra-transparent thermoplastic films and film coatings business to the GuMa jv it has set up with its partner Mazzuchelli (Varese / Italy). The business is a remnant of the former Worbla activities sold to Renolit in 2002 – see Plasteurope.com of 19.09.2002. Its production facilities are located in Italy and are focused on distortion-free PVC sheets, for example for flexible rear windows for convertibles. Sales currently stand at around CHF 2m (EUR 1.2m). The transfer also reflects Gurit's strategy to focus its remaining thermoplastics business on applications for the winter sports industry.
