The board of Georg Fischer (GF, Schaffhausen / Switzerland; www.georgfischer.com) has appointed Joost Geginat as new head of its GF Piping Systems division. He will succeed incumbent Pietro Lori, who will retire at the end of July this year. Geginat is due to assume the position on 1 August, but will join the Swiss group already in May to allow for adequate transition time.
Geginat joins GF from Alix Partners, where he has worked as a senior managing director and partner since 2014. During his career – which also included management positions at Roland Berger Strategy Consultants – he accompanied several GF projects at both the corporate and divisional level, and is thus well acquainted with the company.
Lori first started working at GF in 1988, and became head of GF Piping Systems in 2008. Under his helm, the business continued to grow, and in 2014 became the largest division within the company.
GF has had a tumultuous year in 2015, largely as a result of the Swiss government’s decision to revaluate the franc. In November, however, the company was able to return to its traditional 40-hour work week (see Plasteurope.com of 27.11.2015).
