German pharmaceutical packaging and drug delivery system manufacturer Gerresheimer (Düsseldorf; www.gerresheimer.com) has extended its range of cyclo olefin polymer (COP) syringes by combining its glass ready-to-fill (RTF) concept with “ClearJect” to create the new Gx RTF “ClearJect” brand. The syringe will be manufactured at the Gerresheimer Medical Systems plant in Germany in close collaboration with the company’s longstanding partner, Taisei Medical (Ibaraki City, Osaka / Japan; www.taisei-g.co.jp).

Gerresheimer already offers a range of ready-to-fill COP syringes manufactured by Taisei Medical in Japan. In this partnership, Gerresheimer’s role is to market the “ClearJect” syringes and provide technical support to customers in Europe and America.

The German company also produces the “MultiShell” vial that combines barrier properties and glass-like transparency in a single product. It protects its content through a sandwich or multilayer structure composed of COP with a PA layer as an oxygen barrier. This protects sensitive pharmaceuticals against oxidation and moisture and increases shelf life. Gerresheimer has installed a commercial production line to manufacture vials in the sizes of 2, 5, 10, 15, 50 and 100ml.
