Valipac coordinates European collaboration on closed-loop recycling of construction films / Partners include Morssinkhof, Oerlemans, Total and Wienerberger
Total (Paris / France; and other companies have decided to set up “Clean Site Circular Project”, an alliance to recycle natural shrink hoods waste from the construction sector in a closed system without degradation of film performance. Shrink hoods are films used for the protection and stabilisation of goods during storage and transport on pallets. The project's coordinator is Valipac (Wemmel / Belgium;, the Belgian organisation in charge of the extended producer responsibility scheme for industrial packaging.

The other partners are Morssinkhof Rymoplast (Lichtenvoorde / The Netherlands;, Total Polymers(, Oerlemans Packaging (Genderen / The Netherlands;, Wienerberger (Vienna / Austria; and the European Association of National Builders' Merchants Associations and Manufacturers (Zellik / Belgium;

Total has developed a film recipe showing that a closed loop “shrink hood to shrink hood” is industrially feasible and can technically match virgin solutions. It uses Total’s “Lumicene Supertough 22ST05” as a “booster” for the recyclate.
