Automotive components supplier Faurecia (Paris / France; www.faurecia.com) has acquired 100% of its Taco Faurecia Design Center joint venture (TFDC, Pune / India), which specialises in development and engineering of automotive interior systems. TFDC was established in 2004 as a 50:50 jv with Taco Auto Comp System and now works for 23 Faurecia research, design and development centres in 10 countries, primarily for the company’s interior systems business unit.
Faurecia said it plans to develop the TFDC business to provide a full range of services in development and program management, including quality, finance, purchasing, information technology and manufacturing. It also plans to expand its business with Indian automotive companies to increase its industrial presence in the country. Initially, the unit will serve Faurecia’s seat mechanism plant at Manesar / India and Faurecia said it is planning an additional seating plant in India to be serviced by TFDC.
The company plans to further increase its presence in India through the acquisition of exhaust emission control specialist Emcon Technologies (Troy, Michigan / USA; www.emcontechnologies.com), which has two plants in India at Bangalore and Chennai.
