Essentra Packaging (Cardiff / UK; www.essentrapackaging.com) has introduced a new label innovation that helps maintain and control the moisture content within packs, ensuring that the goods do not dry out and are kept fresh. “AquaSense” was developed and jointly patented together with Essentra Porous Technologies (www.essentraporoustechnologies.com) and is marketed under Essentra Packaging’s Protect range.
Aquasense consists of an absorbent pad that is activated by the consumer once the pack or tub is opened. When placed under a tap, the pad soaks up a specific amount of water that it then releases within the pack, ensuring that the contents stays fresh while simultaneously controlling humidity and reducing product waste by preventing goods from drying out. Available in a range of formats and sizes, Essentra Packaging said AquaSense is designed to meet the specific needs of the product it is protecting. Customers have the added option of including graphics and designs on the pad.
Essentra Packaging – part of speciality plastic, fibre, foam and packaging producer Essentra (Milton Keynes / UK; www.essentra.com) – said that since the pad soaks up only as much moisture as it needs, customers no longer have to measure the dose.
