Investor RiverRock sells shares to French packaging group Proplast
Investment company RiverRock European Opportunities Fund (London / UK; www.riverrock.eu) has sold all of its shares in packaging producer ES-Plastic (Hutthurm / Germany; www.es-plastic.de) to the French Proplast Packaging Group (Flines-lez-Raches; www.proplast-group.com). The transaction has been completed and the parties have not disclosed the purchase price.

RiverRock had acquired the medium-sized Bavarian enterprise from investment company Novum Capital (Frankfurt / Germany; www.novumcapital.com) at the end of 2014 in a bid to push forward the global growth of this manufacturer of intelligent packaging systems. ES-Plastic is specialised in extruded and thermoformed PP packaging. Its portfolio is centred around modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) trays for fresh meat and ready-made meals. In this segment, ES-Plastic supplies major food producers and retailers throughout Europe. The company also produces cups, lids, sorting inserts and films in southern Germany.
ES-Plastic recently announced its participation in the "Zero Pellet Loss" initiative (see Plasteurope.com of 24.06.2016). Participating plastics producers and converters undertake to avoid, as much as possible, any release of plastic pellets into the environment and, in the event of a release, to effectively clear up the pellets. The initiative has been prompted by pollution of the world's oceans with plastics and other litter.
The Proplast holding company has subsidiaries in France, UK, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands and Germany. Injection moulded and thermoformed packaging and packaging technology is supplied via its two subsidiaries Nutripack (www.nutripack.co.uk) and Mecapack (www.mecapack.co.uk), both of which have their head office in Nuneaton / UK.
