French injection moulder expands medical packaging sector
Injection moulding company Ercé Plasturgie (Martignat / France; www.erce-plasturgie.com) has spent around EUR 3.5m on expanding its medical technology activities. A production facility for one-way medical items such as plastic and silicone syringes and ampoules has been built in Veyziat, not far from the company's headquarters in Martignat. On the 4,000 m² site – of which 700 m² is classified as Class 7 and 8 clean rooms – 15 injection moulding machines have initially been installed. The company also plans to set up its own mould production facility.
Including Veyziat, Ercé Plasturgie now operates a total of six plants with 250 employees who primarily produce parts for the automotive industry. Five of them are in France, one in Chropyne in the Czech Republic. Sales in 2012 amounted to around EUR 33m, with three-quarters of the business stemming from the auto industry. The rest is generated in the medical and pharmaceutical sector. At the end of 2010, Ercé strengthened these activities with the acquisition of two plants belonging to the former Plastef company near Paris.
