Drive to replace old injection moulding equipment / Financial incentive to scrap outdated models
Austrian injection moulding machinery manufacturer Engel (Schwertberg; www.engelglobal.com) has taken a proactive approach to incentivising customers to replace their ageing machines. The company is offering a EUR 3,010 “scrapping premium” throughout Europe on its “Victory”, “E-Victory", "E-Max”, “E-Motion" and “Duo Pico" models until 31 July 2009. To qualify, customers must provide evidence that they have scrapped an equivalent older machine of any make or sold it to a second-hand dealer. Engel argues that modern energy-efficient models reduce machinery operating costs. In France, engineering associations are calling for the government to introduce incentives to encourage investment in new machinery.
