ENGEL
New record: Injection moulding machine with 55,000 kN / For 50 kg containers
Since the series was first introduced four years ago, Engel Vertriebsgesellschaft mbH (A-4311 Schwertberg), has sold more than 200 injection moulding machines of its "Duo" (twin-platen) series worldwide. These units, which require less space than traditional three-platen machines, are used primarily for the production of big moulded parts. The provisional highlight of this series is the biggest machine ever to be built by Engel, an "ES 130000/5500 Duo" with a clamping force of 55,000 kN. This enormous injection moulding machine, weighing 430 t, has been delivered to Capp-Plast S.r.l. (Via Pietro Nenni 1, I-50010 Capalle / Prato) where it will be used to produce assorted containers and Eurocontainers with a maximum shot weight of 50 kg PE-HD. The machine is supplemented by an "ERC 403" removal robot. The plasticising unit is of a swivel design, at the customer's request, to permit the fitting and removal of the 8.5 m long screw which weighs 3.5 t. The fact that less than a year elapsed between receipt of the order/start of design work and the commencement of production at the customer's is held by the company to be proof of the rapid implementation of new developments at Engel.

Detailed press information on the big machine, with further details (German): PIE-No. 42934.
