French plastic packaging association Elipso (Paris; www.elipso.org) has elected Christian Théry as its new president. He succeeds Françoise Andres, who held the office from 2015.

Théry studied engineering and has worked for various French and international organisations. He was president of Stard, a French group of SMEs specialised in packaging, from 2004, joining Elipso shortly after in 2005. “I am committed to defending our industry, which is not popular enough, and it is up to us to increase appreciation for this industry by decisively committing ourselves to this major transition,” Théry said. “Often criticised, plastic packaging has many advantages and remains indispensable in everyday life.”

Elipso has also announced that Emmanuelle Buffet will serve as its chief delegate going forward. Buffet was previously in charge of regulatory affairs and health safety at the French association.

In other news, former Elipso Communications Manager Christophe Morvan has left the association. He now holds the same post at bioplastics packaging group Sphere (Paris; www.sphere.eu). Elipso’s former MD Emmanuel Guichard has also departed to take up a position as chief delegate at French beauty industry federation Febea (Paris; www.febea.fr).
