Turkish flexible packaging specialist Elif (Istanbul; www.elifplastik.com.tr) has two products, “ElifHyPEr” and “Elif2Twist”, that were finalists in the ninth edition of Turkish packaging manufacturers association Ambalaj Sanayicileri Derneği's (ASD, Istanbul; www.ambalaj.org.tr) “Crescent and Stars of Packaging” competition. Approved for food contact, Elif2Twist is a twistable PE film for the confectionery sector. The film can be used for candy, chocolate bars and lollipops, and comes in transparent, white and metallised versions.

A high-performance PE film for use in industries such as food, home care, pet care and hygiene, ElifHyPEr has good optical properties like higher gloss, clarity and lower haze, the company says. ElifHyPEr also has improved mechanical and barrier properties as well as advanced film performance and reduced natural resource usage. Elif notes that elimination of lamination with other substrates allows for packaging recyclability, and the PE film can be used in stand-up pouches, in-mould labels, shrink sleeves and draw string tapes, among others.
