Lead producer invests in added capacity for PP compounding / Takeover of Italian company Politec

Lead producer and recycler Ecobat Technologies (Matlock / UK; www.ecobatgroup.com) has acquired PP compounder Politec (Pieve di Cento / Italy) for an undisclosed sum. Within the group, Politec is now assigned to subsidiary Eco-Bat (Paderno Dugnano / Italy) located just outside Milan.
A spokeswoman told Plasteurope.com that Ecobat exclusively compounds PP. The company currently has European facilities with capacities totalling 70,000 t/y, distributed among its subsidiaries BSB Recycling (Braubach / Germany), H.J. Enthoven & Sons (Matlock) and Muldenhütten Recycling and Umwelttechnik (Freiberg / Germany). The acquisition of Politec adds 15,000 t/y. Ecobat supplies PP compounds to customers in the automotive sector, among others. The company claims to be the world's largest lead producer with an annual production of more than 800,000 t as well as 15 sites in Europe, the US and South Africa.
