DSM
Polyamide resin up to 100% bio-based
Dutch chemical group DSM (Heerlen; www.dsm.com) has launched what it called “an up to 100%” bio-based, high-temperature version of its high-performance polyamide Stanyl product, which has a carbon footprint up to 50% smaller than the fossil-based original. The PA grade offers a 3.3-t CO2 reduction per tonne produced, the company said.

The bio version has been fully certified as an ISCC Plus mass-balancing solution, DSM said, noting that the product offers the same characteristics and performance as conventional Stanyl and reflects the group’s commitment to providing bio- or recycled-based alternatives – or both – for its entire portfolio by 2030.

Related: Mass balance, ISCC Plus are the watchwords

Stanyl is used for high-temperature applications for cars, electronics, electrical products, and consumer goods. Examples include USB connectors, automotive and industrial actuator gears, powertrain timing chains, bearing cages, and food contact conveyors.
