Agreement for full ownership in Univation Technologies processing technology joint venture with ExxonMobil / Business to be integrated into Performance Plastics division
Without disclosing any additional details, Dow Chemical (Midland, Michigan / USA; www.dow.com) and ExxonMobil Chemical (Baytown, Texas / USA; www.exxonmobil.com) in early October announced a definite agreement transferring total ownership of their 50:50 Univation Technologies (Houston, Texas / USA; www.univation.com) joint venture to Dow. Pending regulatory approval, the transfer is set to be completed by the end of this year. Univation – which licenses its “Unipol” PE process technology – will then become part of Dow’s Performance Plastics operating unit.
The “Unipol” gas phase PE process technology includes swing capability for LLDPE and HDPE as well as associated catalysts.
