Dow (Midland, Michigan / USA; www.dow.com) and Doxa Plast (Värnamo / Sweden; www.doxaplastics.com) are collaborating to commercialise “Reborn”, a new range of bio-based stretch films. At its factory in Sweden, Doxa Plast manufactures the stretch films using Dow’s “Elite 5230GC R” PE resin, which is an LLDPE produced from renewable feedstock. The feedstock is derived from paper production residues from sustainably managed forests in Finland.
Using a patented technology, Doxa Plast manufactures thin stretch films down to four microns thickness, while maintaining a high level of performance for improved load pallet stability and reducing overall packaging material. Dow’s bio-based PE portfolio is produced using bio-naphtha from tall oil, which is a byproduct of paper pulp production. The PE resins production is certified by sustainability certification system ISCC (Cologne / Germany; www.iscc-system.org).
