Carter to succeed Fitterling as CEO

A new chapter seems to be starting for Dow Chemical (Midland, Michigan, USA; www.dow.com): Karen Carter, currently COO, is to become the chemical company’s new CEO on 1 July 2026. Her predecessor, Jim Fitterling, is to take the position of executive chairman of the supervisory board at the same time.
Carter, 51, has worked for the group for 30 years, most recently as head of the largest business division, Packaging & Specialty Plastics, and as COO since 2024.
Fitterling has led Dow Chemical as CEO since 2018 and was additionally appointed chairman of the supervisory board in 2020. His tenure as CEO included, among other things, the merger of Dow to form DowDuPont and subsequently the re-spin-off as Dow Chemical.
