DEVALIT UK
Linpac adds to automotive business
Devalit UK, the Scunthorpe/UK-based moulding subsidiary of the Devalit plastic group (HQ: Devalit van Deest GmbH & Co KG, PO Box 220302, D-42373 Wuppertal) has been bought by the Linpac group. The UK subsidiary was set up in 1989, mainly to supply the GM subsidiary in the UK, Vauxhall Motors, and has some 23 injection moulding machines and a painting line for bumpers. The purchase, which was arranged with the administrative receivers of the German parent company, will add about £ 15m to the estimated £ 150m turnover of Linpac Mouldings. Linpac, which gains about 50% of its business from the automotive industry, recently set up a moulding plant in Overpelt/Belgium – again, to supply mainly automotive customers – and was ranked No 6 among European moulding groups on its 1991 sales, in a survey of the European moulding industry, recently published by research agency AMI, Bristol.
