US injection moulder MET Plastics (Elk Grove, Illinois; www.metplastics.com) has now become Met2Plastic following its acquisition by French plastics and composite processor, the Dedienne Multiplasturgy Group (Saint-Aubin-sur-Gaillon; www.dedienne.com). Dedienne designs and manufactures technical and cosmetic parts as well as sub-assemblies using high performance plastics and composites for replacing metal.

Commenting on the merger, Mike Walter, president of Met2Plastic, said: “Joining forces with a like-minded business will help us both to flourish as we grow our operations in North America and in Europe." Pierre-Jean Leduc, president and CEO of Dedienne, added that the new joint venture would be commercially and technically profitable for both companies.

For Dedienne, Met2Plastics provides access to the North American market with a customer base in the aerospace and medical fields. Met2Plastics said a presence in the Chicago region and the ability to produce in the US dollar zone was also beneficial to Dedienne.

As part of Dedienne Multiplasturgy, Met2Plastic will have increased capacity and access to European OEMs with operations in North America. Dedienne also provides access to an enhanced technology portfolio that positions the company for growth in metal to plastic conversion applications for both its existing and potential new customers.

Dedienne has three plants in France – in Normandy, Nantes and the Paris region – and in Romania, as well as sales offices in the UK and Germany.
