Optimisation of resin storage in Denmark / Silos installed to replace octabins
Industrial technology group Danfoss (Nordborg / Denmark; www.danfoss.com) has installed three silos to supply its injection moulding machines at its subsidiary Danfoss Heating in Silkeborg / Denmark. Previously, the machines were supplied individually from octabins.

The Labotek (Wuppertal / Germany; www.labotek.com) silos each hold 40 t of plastic resin and supply the production hall via a 70 m long vacuum piping system, which saves space. The company gained additional space by not having to store the empty cardboard octabins until disposal.

The Danfoss group comprises four segments – Power Solutions, Cooling, Drives and Heating. Its products are used for refrigeration, air conditioning, heating, automotive applications and machinery, among others. The group employs around 27,000 people worldwide and generated sales of around EUR 5.8 bn in fiscal 2017, up 12% against the year before. EBIT was just under EUR 650m. The Danish company generated 47% of its sales in Western Europe, 24% in North America and 22% in the Asia-Pacific region.
