US investor acquires Dutch packaging specialist / Plans to expand in US market

Private equity group Ampersand Capital Partners (Boston, Massachusetts, USA; www.ampersandcapital.com) has taken over Dutch packaging producer CurTec (Rijen; www.curtec.com). The previous owner, investment group Bencis Capital Partners (Amsterdam; www.bencis.com) had acquired CurTec in 2016. No details on the purchase price were provided.

CurTec designs, produces, and distributes GMP-certified plastic packaging used in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries. Production is located at its headquarters in Rijen along with a US site in Westminster, South Carolina, which opened in 2023.
With the change in ownership, CurTec plans to expand its US market base. CEO Bart van Berkel said Ampersand has “deep expertise in the life sciences supply chain”.

The US group’s portfolio includes pharmaceuticals producers and, with Gannet BioChem, a specialist for the development and production of polyethylene glycol (PEG) reagents for biopharmaceutical applications.
