US building group acquires composite decking specialist TimberTech / Plans to merge business with Azek Building Products subsidiary
Pennsylvania-based building group CPG International (Scranton / USA; http://cpgint.com) recently announced that it had signed a definite agreement to acquire Crane Group (Colombus, Ohio / USA; www.cranegroup.com) subsidiary TimberTech (Wilmington, Ohio / USA; www.timbertech.com). Financial details of the deal, which is expected to close in late September, were not disclosed.
CPG said it plans to merge TimberTech with its Azek Building Products (Scranton, Pennsylvania / USA; www.azek.com) subsidiary, pooling the two groups’ product and North American distributor portfolio. Once joined, the merged group will become one of the largest manufacturers in the trim, decking and railing market.
Commenting on the synergy effects of the deal, CPG chief executive Eric Jungbluth said, “While Azek has led the conversion from wood exterior trim and decking to cellular PVC, TimberTech has been a strong force and pioneer in composite decking since the category began. We consider this a merger of equals – a winning combination that will help advance the entire industry.”
